Spiced orange sipper









Cherry gomme

  • 1kg Cherry puree
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Half teaspoon allspice
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 200g Caster sugar

Cocktail recipe

Makes 1 cocktail

  • 5ml Cherry gomme
  • 5ml Cointreau
  • 5ml Vodka
  • 100ml Prosecco
  • 1 x Fresh cherry to garnish


Firstly you will need to make the cherry gomme the day before to allow the spices to infuse. At the Bistro we make our own but you can buy Morello cherry puree off the internet to make the process easier at home. Add all of the ingredients for the gomme in to a saucepan and heat on medium until the sugar has dissolved. Set aside and allow to cool before chilling in the refrigerator overnight to allow the mix to infuse. You will then need to pass the puree through a sieve to remove any peel and the spices, these can be discarded so you are just left with a wonderfully fragrant, spiced sugar puree. You are now ready to make your cocktail!

Add the puree, Cointreau and vodka to a glass, we’d suggest using a flute to give the cocktail added wow factor, if you then hold the glass by the base and move in a circular motion on a surface you’ll be able to mix the liquids together without having to use any spoons. Top with prosecco and garnish with a fresh cherry and or a twist or orange zest.
